Juxtaposition is the fact of two things being seen or placed close together with contrasting effect. This image, I think, shows this concept very well. I went out with my shooting partner Bill Leahy and we happened upon this area behind a large grain elevator and it produced many fine geometric shots for us that day.
Imagine heading into your art studio to create works of art. You are there every day, I mean every day, with coffee in hand - in the studio with your thoughts, ideas and plans - that spark of inspiration for the next great piece of art you hope to create. Paint brushes in the sink, straight rulers on the kitchen table, artwork lined up in the hallway, staged for the next art show. Holidays, weekends and down-time are meaningless, you are an artist and your life’s work is all that matters. You were born artist and it is your purpose...
"Taiyo", In my work I strive for an artistic style characterized by details and mental associations that evoke subjective impressions rather than the recreation of objective reality. I aim to capture a momentary, sensory effect, the impression an object makes on the eye in a fleeting instant.
Touring the brand new Hampton Inn in trendy Northwest Portland today with Art consultant Diane Kruger and Director of Sales Jessica Rippell and sculptor Joseph Rastovich. I have 10 pieces featured in the lobby for Grand Opening and beyond. The Hotel will open September 2017.
My advice to those thinking of submitting to art festivals…go for it! It will be some of the most rewarding and interesting experiences you’ll have in your life. It will make you a better artist - you will understand why you are making art, how to talk about your artistic process and you will learn how to sell you art - all while getting valuable feedback from interested art lovers and art buyers!
